ASA, along with the other members of the “Ad-Hoc HAV Data Access Coalition,” recently sent a letter to key members of the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee in support of Section 15 of S. 1885, the “American Vision for Safer Transportation through Advancement of Revolutionary Technologies Act,” (“AV START Act”).
Section 15 would establish an advisory committee comprised of representatives of the automotive aftermarket and other stakeholders effected by automated vehicle data access. The Committee would produce a comprehensive report on vehicle data, intellectual property protections, customer privacy, cybersecurity, vehicle safety, etc., within two years’ time. One of the advisory committee’s members would be a representative of the independent repair sector.
ASA leaders continue to meet with congressional leaders to support S. 1885. Click here to read the full text of the letter.
