On February 14th, Illinois Representative Linda Chapa-LaVia (D-083) introduced House Bill 4926. If passed, this bill would amend the Illinois Insurance Code and the Automotive Collision Repair Act to provide that the use of non-OEM aftermarket crash parts may not be included in an estimate for repair of a motor vehicle unless the customer is advised of the fact in writing. It would also require the use of OEM specifications. This bill is currently before the Illinois House Committee on Rules for further consideration.
